Welcome to Shenfield! This impressive first opinion practice in the heart of popular Brentwood in Essex is looking for an additional vet to join their already experienced clinical team, on a part-time basis.

About your new role!

Shenfield is a very popular practice and therefore it has a great caseload for surgical and medical cases. Due to the nature of the caseload we are looking for a vet who is confident in all routine GP surgery.

​As well as everything you would expect in a busy first opinion practice, Shenfield also has ultrasound and K-Laser facilities.

​You will be surrounded by a highly experienced team with multiple RVN’s and support colleagues, and a part-time senior vet. You will also be supported by a dedicated regional manager whose support is invaluable to her branches in the region, and a regional head vet for any clinical queries you may have, as John has a wealth of knowledge to pass on!

To join our existing team, we are looking for an additional vet on Tuesdays and Fridays. The role includes a Saturday rotation, and a 1:8 Wanstead Hospital Sunday rotation plus 1-2 bank holidays per year and being included in the last resort on-call rotation.

If you were looking for more hours, we would be happy to combine this with our Gidea Park practice, working Wednesdays and 1:4 Saturdays.

As part of your initial induction period, you will be given the opportunity to spend a day in the hospital to meet the team and get au-fait with your surroundings.

As a branch veterinary surgeon, some of your duties will include:

​- Carry out consultations, thoroughly examining all pets presented and making management and treatment recommendations which are based on best practice and are evidence-based and in accordance with GVG protocols. – Perform GP surgery on cases as appropriate and within boundaries of personal competence and limitation of overnight care. – Maintain, prescribe and dispense all medications in accordance with appropriate current medicines legislation and RCVS guidance.  – Record accurate and thorough clinical notes and ensure that pets’ histories are accurate comprehensive and useful to colleagues. – Be prepared to refer cases in a timely manner, in the first instance to a GVG Hospital, when there is an inability to undertake a case for whatever reason. – Help to maintain a respectful and collaborative team environment

VA599 – Senior Registered Veterinary Nurse

South of the river sandwiched between Battersea and Clapham is our Westside practice, who are looking for a senior RVN to step in and help lead this established team on a full-time basis, in a beautiful area of London.

About your new role!

You will not be short of support at Westside; with 3 vets, 2 RVNs, trainee nurses and reception colleagues, the team is able to provide exemplary service to their patients and clients daily.

This senior position is full-time (40 hours per week) Monday to Friday and includes a 1:4 branch Saturday and 1:10 Saturday rotation at the Stone Lion Hospital, plus 1 bank holiday per year at Stone Lion. There are NO on-call requirements.

​You will have the full support from a dedicated regional manager, and OOH care is provided by our Stone Lion 24-hour hospital just a 20-minute drive away.The Westside practice itself has ample facilities to enable the team to perform plenty of GP diagnostic and surgical procedures onsite, including an imaging suite, and blood diagnosis suite.

As a senior branch RVN some of your duties will include:– Responsible for the nursing team, ensuring the provision of a high quality and continually improving standards of nursing care. – Assist the veterinary surgeon in theatre and during consultations, as and when required. – Ensure the provision of a high quality and continually improving standard of nursing care, comfort and welfare of all pets in our care. – Utilise Schedule 3 skills, as directed. – Ensure all diagnostic, surgical and medical equipment and instruments are serviced as required, maintained well and in full working order. – Ensure that a weekly audit of Controlled Drugs is carried out in accordance with the prescribed protocol. – Responsible for staff working on reception, ensuring a high and improving standard of client care by means of excellent communication and service at all times. – Manage the daily operation of the reception area and ensure the friendly and efficient handling of clients and their pets, in person, by email and over the telephone. – Support student nurses as a clinical supervisorLeadership training is provided for new senior colleagues to assist your transition into a senior position.In terms of location the practice is situated in one of London’s most desirable areas, you have Clapham Common with its lush green space which is a mere 5-minute walk away, and Battersea Power Station which has a plethora of shopping and restaurant options is a 15-minute drive or 30-minute train journey away. In the heart of East London, home of Billingsgate fish market, E Pellicci’s cafe and the Columbia Road Flower Market sits our very popular Plaistow practice, and they are looking for an additional RVN to join their team on a full-time basis.

About your new role!

Our new team member will be no stranger to fast paced GP branch life, building rapport with clients their beloved animals. You will be working alongside an energetic team including 1.2 vets, senior RVN, and enthusiastic trainee nurses.

This role is full-time Monday to Friday and includes a 1:4 branch Saturday and 1:10 Wanstead Hospital Sunday rotation with TOIL. You will be rota ‘d to 1 to 2 bank holidays per annum in Wanstead.

There are no on-call requirements for this position.

​Our Plaistow practice has supported the local community for years, providing invaluable diagnostic and surgical care, and being ISFM accredited they have a passion for feline welfare. As well as plenty of opportunity for an RVN who enjoys conducting nurse consults, with a large surgical caseload there will also be ample GA exposure.

​Facilities on site include digital x-ray, dental x-ray and ultrasound. For anything more advanced the practice is supported by Wanstead 24-hour hour hospital, for internal referrals or OOH care and hospitalisation.

As a branch RVN some of your duties will include:– Ensure the provision of a high quality and continually improving standard of nursing care.- Assist the veterinary surgeon in theatre and during consultations, as and when required.- Maintain comprehensive patient hospitalisation records.- Ensure a high standard of comfort and welfare for all pets in our care.- Complete and maintain accurate records of hospitalised patients.- Maintain a respectful and collaborative team environment.- Ensure equipment is cleaned, packed, sterilised and stored correctly when not in use.- Maintain adequate stocks of drugs, diets and consumables and place orders with our suppliers to required levels as necessary.- Assist with the induction of new staff and their subsequent training.- Provide reception duties, as required, ensuring a friendly and efficient handling of clients and their pets, in person, by email and over the telephone.- Support student nurses as a clinical supervisor.

About your new role!

​In the heart of one of London’s best kept secret neighbourhoods in South London is our Kennington practice that has gone from strength to strength over the years, and they are looking for a second veterinary surgeon to help support their busy GP caseload.

This role can offer flexibility between 30-40 hours per week, if full-time this would involve alternating Mondays and Fridays off, and is inclusive of a 1:4 branch Saturday and 1:10 hospital Sunday rotation. You will be rota ‘d to 1 to 2 bank holidays per year in Stone Lion Hospital.

​There are NO on-call requirements for this role.

​The Wanstead Hospital team are looking for competent GP vets who can jump straight in with routine surgeries, including bitch spays and dentals, and be able to confidently manage emergency cases. With a high imaging caseload this would be the perfect role for a GP vet with a passion for diagnostic imaging, to either utilise their existing skills, or develop on their area of interest.

As a GP hospital vet some of your duties will include:• Ensure a high and improving standard of evidence-based clinical care at the Hospital.• Participate in the clinical consulting, medical and surgical rota for Hospital GP vets.• Ensure compliance with RCVS Codes of Conduct, Practice Standards and relevant medicines regulation within the Hospital.• Ability to work independently while recognising limitations and seeking support when required• Carry out consultations, thoroughly examining all pets presented and making management and treatment recommendations which are based on best practice and are evidence-based and in accordance with GVG protocols.• Maintain, prescribe and dispense all medications in accordance with appropriate current medicines legislation and RCVS guidance.• Investigate cases fully and appropriately, using diagnostic aids such as radiography and blood testing.• Perform surgery on cases as appropriate and within boundaries of personal competence• Confident communicator with a client-centred approach.• Good clinical reasoning and time-management skills.• Foster a culture of excellent working relationships within the Hospital and be responsible for the achievement of high morale and a strong team spirit.

Your rota will be on a 6 weekly rotational basis made up of an average of 40 hours per week inclusive of your 1:3 Saturday and 1:6 Sunday weekend rotation. This will enable you to work within all departments of the hospital, ranging across consulting, surgery, ward and ECC. You will be rota ‘d to up to 2 bank holidays per year and be included in the last resort on-call rotation.

​Wanstead Veterinary Hospital provides an excellent first opinion, emergency, critical care, and referral service to our clients and local network of 20 branches and works to the highest clinical standards. No day or caseload is the same with such a wide pool of clients and internal referrals coming through the doors.

​There is state of the art diagnostic support, with a CT scanner, a commercial laboratory, a strong medical team, and experienced surgeons routinely conducting advanced orthopaedic, soft tissue, and minimally invasive surgery all available on site.

You will be working alongside a large collaborative team consisting of approximately 25 vets, 27 RVNs, 14 SVNs, 7 VCAs and a large front of house team who are integral in maintaining excellent client care.

​You are fully supported by an established management structure including senior GP and internal medic vets, senior RVN’s, 2 deputy head nurses, head nurse, head vet and hospital manager.

​Wanstead itself is on the outskirts of urban Essex but is close enough to rural life for that countryside relief. Transport links into London do not get better than a short walk to a Central Line tube station! It is a beautiful area of London with lots of green space including the local Bluebell Woods. It also has a plethora of independent restaurants, bakeries, pubs and coffee houses to keep you busy and refreshed in your time off!

Please be aware there is no on-site parking available and public transport is advised, but with stations and bus stops a stone’s throw away you have plenty of choice.
