We respect the need for a work life balance, especially within the veterinary industry and we have created a part-time role for a veterinary surgeon looking for 2 days per week in Acton.

About your new role!

This GP first opinion role involves working Mondays and Tuesdays plus a 1:4 branch Saturday and 1:16 hospital Sunday rotation, and 1 bank holiday per year.

There are NO on-call requirements.

Acton is set in an old bank complete with original vault and is also part of the ISFM cat friendly scheme and is proud to be involved with lots of work for the Cats Protection Charity, so this role will be purrfect for our vets with a feline bias!

​You will be working alongside a senior vet on one of your days conducting consultations, performing routine surgeries and triaging any emergencies that may arise. You have a fantastic established nursing team including experienced RVNs for your go to support! You will also be fully supported by an incredibly experienced regional manager, and regional head vet.

​The Mandeville Veterinary Hospital in Northolt provides out of hours support for Acton. This impressive hospital has state of the art 24 hr facilities including CT, excellent ultrasound facilities, scopes, laparoscopic equipment, and an array of specialists, so your patients will be well looked after if they needed more advanced treatment, or an overnight stay.

​The practice could not have a more ideal location, being literally opposite the Acton underground station on the Elizabeth Tube Line, which takes you straight into central and east London in one direction, and through to Heathrow airport in the other for those much-needed getaways!

The salary for this part-time role inclusive of weekend rotation is £25,312 to £33,855 (£45,000 to £61,000 FTE) depending on experience and allowing room for growth within the role.

One of our fabulous RVN’s is off on their travels, and this has created a position for an experienced RVN who is no stranger to a busy environment, loves the pace of a hospital, but the environment of a branch.

​Our Hackney practice is one of our busiest in the group, and we now work closely with our consult only clinic in Highbury to support them with their advanced surgical cases. Having a keen interest in diagnostic imaging or a certificate would be beneficial, but not essential.

Wanstead are looking for a veterinary surgeon who is wanting to grab the opportunity to step into this full-time GP role at Wanstead Hospital in East London.

The team are looking for a competent GP vet who is able to jump straight in with routine surgeries, including bitch spays and dentals, and be able to manage emergency cases. With a high imaging caseload this would be the perfect role for a GP vet with a passion for diagnostic imaging, to either utilise their existing skills, or develop on their area of interest.

Wanstead Veterinary Hospital provides an excellent first opinion, emergency, critical care, and referral service to our clients and local network of 20 branches and works to the highest clinical standards.

There is state of the art diagnostic support, with a CT scanner, a commercial laboratory, a strong medical team, and experienced surgeons routinely conducting advanced orthopaedic, soft tissue, and minimally invasive surgery all available on site.

You will be fully supported by a team of experienced hospital vets including a senior medic/ECC and GP vet, our incredible nursing team made up of experienced RVN’s, students, nursing assistants and front of house team, as well as on site clinical managers.

Your rota will be on a 6 weekly rotational basis made up of an average of 40 hours per week, inclusive of your 1:3 Saturday and 1:6 Sunday weekend rotation. This will enable you to work within all departments of the hospital, ranging across consulting, surgery, ward and ECC. You will be rota ‘d to up to 2 bank holidays per year and be included in the last resort on-call rotation.

Wanstead itself is on the outskirts of urban Essex but is close enough to rural life for that countryside relief. Transport links into London do not get better than a short walk to a Central Line tube station!

You will be rota ‘d to up to 2 bank holidays per year in Wanstead and be involved in an on-call rotation. The 40.4 hours also includes approximately 6 short add-on twilight shifts per year.

You will be fully supported by a highly experienced regional manager, whose support is invaluable to her branches, as well as regional head vet for clinical management support if this is your first senior role.

You will also have the support of our flagship 24-hour hospital in Wanstead, who provide OOH care and support for more complex cases and procedures.

Mile End is situated in an ideal part of London, it has a bustling restaurant and bar scene, is close to famous Victoria Park and is within a single 35-minute train journey straight through to rural Essex and Epping Forest, where you will be spoilt for choice for country pubs. In the bustling heart of popular East London is this hugely popular first opinion practice that is looking for an additional vet, to work alongside their incredible senior vet.

The rota can offer flexibility with a 30-40 hour weekly option, which is inclusive of a 1:4 branch run Saturday and 1:8 hospital Sunday rotation. You will be rota ‘d to up to 2 bank holidays per year and be included in the last resort on-call and twilight rotation for the Wanstead Hospital.

Included in your initial induction period is also a hospital induction day to get to grips with hospital working before your first hospital shift.

We are looking for a future colleague who enjoys working in a busier GP environment and is comfortable with routine surgery and dentals, although you will have ample support from your senior vet who loves to teach.

​You will be fully supported by a full-time senior vet, senior RVN, incredibly passionate trainee nurses and a regional manager whose support is invaluable to her region.

​West Ham is also fully supported by Wanstead Veterinary Hospital for more complex cases and OOH. It has extensive 24 -hr facilities including CT, an excellent ultrasound, scopes, laparoscopic equipment, and an array of specialists and provides a good environment to develop your ECC skills on your Sundays.

​The practice itself is smack bang in the middle between West Ham Park and Stratford, and a short 8 minute walk from the nearest train station (DLR) to take you all over London and into Essex.
