Part-time Vet Surgeon – Barking, East London

Part-time role at our friendly supportive practice in East London, that has been part of the Barking Community for over 30 years. The role is 2 and ½ days per week; Wednesday-Friday (half-day Thursday closing at 12pm) and 1:4 Saturdays. There is also the option to pick up additional shifts either on an ad-hoc or a permanent basis in other clinics if you would like to make it a full-time role. There is no night work or on call.  For part of Wednesday, you will team up with our second vet Priyam, and will be looked after by our amazing RVNs Kim and Samara and Megan our VNA. The Thursday morning and Friday is sole charge, but you are fully supported by our hospital at Wanstead and our neighbouring clinics.

Our ideal candidate would be confident in GP practice, enjoy a busy environment with a broad and varied caseload, is happy with routine surgeries and loves working as part of a team

The salary is in the region of £32,000-£35,000 and in addition, we offer up to £2000- and 5-day CPD allowance (benefits pro-rata for part-time roles). We see CPD as an investment in the individual, as well as for the practice, and is keen to support study for certificate qualifications.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for a Recruitment strategy across the business including permanent, temporary, and locum appointments.
  • Deliver a Recruitment plan to support the business with talent acquisition, resource requirements, and succession planning.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with Hiring Managers through resource planning, role profiles/job description maintenance, ongoing talent pooling as well as progressive succession planning.

Financial Management/Reports

Animal Nursing Assistant – Stone Lion Veterinary Hospital, London

Based at the Stone Lion Veterinary Hospital in Wimbledon Village you will be responsible for ensuring that ward cleanliness is maintained to a high standard. Duties will include cleaning, general tidying, and re-stocking. This position is approximately 34 hours per week and involves shift and weekend work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining the cleanliness of hospital areas
  • Cleaning kennels and changing bedding
  • Keeping up with the laundry
  • Assisting the vets and nurses with holding and examining patients, and setting up for catheter placement and blood sampling
  • Running blood and urine tests
  • Basic animal care including grooming and feeding
  • Sterilizing instruments and packing kits
  • When necessary, talking to clients and answering the emergency phone at night and at weekends

Veterinary experience is preferred but not essential as long as you can demonstrate a passion for animals and the ability to provide excellent customer service to our clients and their pets. Although training will be provided, the successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate an ability to work independently and show an enthusiasm for animal care. This role could potentially lead to a training position in the future, so candidates should have an interest in becoming a Registered Veterinary Nurse.
