In this riverside London village nestled in Southwest London, home to the starting point of the annual Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race is also home to our popular first opinion GP Putney clinic. The team are looking for a part-time vet to help in growing this popular Putney practice further.

About your new role!

​Our Putney practice location has a true London ‘village’ atmosphere, just a short walk from the River Thames, Putney High Street, and Putney Station.

The rota for this sole charge 2-day week position is Thursdays and Fridays to help round up the week, ready for our other fantastic vet to take over from Monday to Wednesday.

​Your rota is inclusive of a 1:3 branch Saturday and 1:10 hospital Sunday rotation, plus 1 bank holiday per year. There are NO on-call requirements.

​Our Putney team currently includes 1 associate vet (who has absolutely hit the ground running since starting!) and fantastic clinical support team who have a passion for building strong bonds with their established client base and providing exemplary patient care.

​We are going through a new era in Putney and are also recruiting for a senior RVN so you will have a blank page of a practice to build up as a new team. As a branch vet vet some of your duties will include (shared with your senior RVN):

– Carry out consultations, thoroughly examining all pets presented and making management and treatment recommendations which are based on best practice and are evidence-based and in accordance with GVG protocols. – Perform surgery on cases as appropriate and within boundaries of personal competence and limitation of overnight care. – Maintain, prescribe and dispense all medications in accordance with appropriate current medicines legislation and RCVS guidance.  – Record accurate and thorough clinical notes and ensure that pets’ histories are accurate comprehensive and useful to colleagues. – Be prepared to refer cases in a timely manner, in the first instance to a GVG Hospital, when there is an inability to undertake a case for whatever reason. – Help to maintain a respectful and collaborative team environment – Work alongside your RVN to ensure branch meetings are scheduled and the clinics SOP’s are being actioned- Oversee the consulting and surgical/diagnostic diary in compliance with company policies.

 The clients at Putney are amazing, incredibly bonded to the team and are largely insured.

If you have a keen interest in diagnostic imaging, we have recently procured ultrasound facilities within the practice.

​You will be fully supported by a dedicated regional manager, and our 24-hour Stone Lion hospital that is just a 15-minute drive away, where you can refer more complex cases, and who also provide our OOH services.

​You will also have additional clinical support from our integral regional head vet Julie, who has a wealth of clinical and management knowledge to pass on.

​The salary band for this part-time role inclusive of weekend rotation is £26,100 to £52,200 (this is £45,000 to £90,000 FTE based on a 40 hour week) dependent on prior experience and allowing room for further growth and personal progression within the role.

VA573 – Senior Registered Veterinary Nurse

One of our fabulous nurses will be starting their parenting adventure in the spring, creating an opportunity for an experienced hospital RVN with a keen interest in the theatre environment, to step into a 12-month maternity cover Senior Theatre Veterinary Nurse role.

*We could consider a RVN who has not been in a senior position before, but has a passion for the theatre environment and wants to develop their skills further, and is keen to step into a theater lead role.*

About your new role!

This full-time (40 hours per week) senior RVN position would be IDEAL for an experienced RVN who thrives in the surgical setting, and wants to take the reins of our 4 theatres in the hospital, ensuring they are running efficiently and to the highest standard.

This role can be either 4 or 5 days per week and includes a 1:6 weekend rotation with TOIL and 2 bank holidays per year. You will be included in the last resort on-call rotation, every 1:10 weeks.

As senior theatre RVN some of your duties will include:– GA sheet audits- Pre-GA check list audits- GA and theatre training- Keeping set up folders up to date- Ensuring surgical kits are maintained and training of equipment- Organising the theatre day- GA troubleshooting- Ordering medical air- Maintaining stock for surgery- Providing ventilator and Ethylene oxide training- Theatre SOP’s- Providing endoscope training- Scope maintenance- Providing in house CPD- Attending and contributing to leadership meetings- Assist in covering Charge Nurse when neededWanstead not only has its own first opinion client base but also sees the internal referral cases from the surrounding branches in East, North and Central London, giving you a plethora of diverse surgical cases.

​There is fantastic diagnostic support at Wanstead, with a CT scanner, a commercial laboratory, a strong medical team, and experienced surgeons routinely conducting advanced orthopaedic, soft tissue, and minimally invasive surgery on site.

​You will be working alongside a large team consisting of approximately 25 vets, 27 RVNs, 14 SVNs, 7 VCAs and a large front of house team who are integral in maintaining excellent client care.

Wanstead has an extensive onsite management structure including 2 deputy head nurses, head nurse, head vet and hospital manager, so you will have ample support around you while settling into your new position.

Wanstead itself is on the outskirts of urban Essex but is close enough to rural life for that countryside relief. Transport links into London do not get better than a short walk to a Central Line tube station!

Please be aware there is no on-site parking available and public transport is advised.

This could be a fantastic opportunity for an experienced RVN who knows their way around a theatre, and wants to gain leadership experience to then take-away and utilise for future senior positions.

About your new role!This a sole charge position that has a perfectly manageable caseload for a GP first opinion vet to step into. To coin the British phrase “hodgepodge” meaning a jumble of things, we have a hodgepodge of a role that would suit a confident GP vet who likes to work between different environments, while still having a level of consistency in their rota.

About your new role!

Working between 2 very different practices (not on the same day) you will be providing consistency to our clients and teams week in week out.

The rota for this split sole charge role consists of Wednesdays in Croydon, Thursdays and Fridays in New Addington, then 1:4 and 1:10 Mondays in Croydon. Inclusive of the 1:4 branch Saturday and 1:10 Stone Lion Sunday rotation the average weekly hours total is 36.7 per week. There can also be variations if you wished to have an early finish once a week, or additional hours to achieve 40 hours per week.

You will be rota ‘d to 1-2 bank holidays per year in Stone Lion, and there are NO on-call requirements.

Both sites have their own nuance’s, and you will be fully supported in both with experienced support colleagues who have worked in their respective branches for years.

This is a sole charge position, and you will be comfortable with routine GP consultations and surgery, but ample support is provided by management in the region.

​Being south of the river, you are ideally located near idyllic Kingston Upon Thames. New Addington is a stone’s throw 2-minute walk from the tram link, and Croydon an 8-minute walk from the tram, where you can pick up other lines to get across the city.
