Welcome to Mandeville Hospital! Just down the road from Northolt underground station (so perfectly situated!) is our 24-hour hospital that supports all the surrounding Goddard clinics in Northwest London, and they are looking for a new Deputy Head Nurse to help lead this impressive team.

About your new role!

This role will suit an experienced RVN who is a natural leader with a cool head, thrives in a fast-paced hospital environment, and enjoys all areas of hospital nursing and prides themselves in providing the highest standard of patient care.

This is a full-time Monday to Friday position, including a 1:5 weekend rotation with TOIL and up to 2 bank holidays per year.

You will be included in the manager on-call rotation for weekends and bank holidays, you are NOT required to attend the hospital when called.

As Deputy Head RVN, some of your duties will include:– Be responsible for the daily coordination and allocation of duties and breaks for the nursing team, ensuring the provision of a high quality and continually improving standards of nursing care. – Be aware of the status of all hospitalised cases, the veterinary surgeon managing each case, new admits and pending patients for discharge.- Oversee and direct nursing staff in the preparation for use of specific work areas such as prep, theatres, and imaging suites.  At the conclusion of their use, all areas should be cleaned and closed in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs). – Liaise with the Head Nurse to provide adequately trained staff to cover duties and so maintain the required high levels of service. – Liaise with referring branches and coordinate both emergency and routine referrals to the hospital in accordance with the SOP. – Support students and VCA’s as a clinical supervisor, and ensure training is being completed to a high standard by the rest of the RVN team- Ensure all diagnostic, surgical and medical equipment and instruments are maintained well in full working order and to report faults to the Head Nurse and Hospital Manager.

​As well as the large clinical team around you, and integral front of house team for client care support, you will be fully supported by your head nurse, head vet and hospital manager.

​Mandeville Veterinary Hospital and its surrounding clinics provide an excellent first opinion, emergency, critical care, and referral service and work to the highest clinical standards. As a result, you will have the opportunity to nurse a wide range of patients and conditions.

​There is state of the art diagnostic support at the hospital with a new CT scanner, a diploma holder in imaging providing our CT and ultrasound service, a strong medical team, and experienced surgeons routinely conducting advanced orthopaedic, soft tissue, and minimally invasive surgery during the day.

​The location of Mandeville itself could not be more ideal for those relying on public transport, as Northolt station on the Central Line is a mere 6-minute walk away. If you are not already au fait with the area, the central line takes you all the way from West London, through to East London such as Liverpool Street, and at the end of the line are beautiful rural Essex towns such as Theydon Bois and Epping. If driving, there is free parking available, a rarity for London!

About your new role!

Stone Lion Veterinary Hospital offers a wide caseload of routine procedures, emergency and critical care, as it not only has its own first opinion client base, but also supports the surrounding Goddard practices for internal referral cases that require hospital expertise.

​The hospital also provides specialist work with an orthopaedic and soft tissue surgeon, dermatologist, and physiotherapist.

This is a full-time RVN position including a 1:4 weekend rotation with time off in lieu ensuring you are not working long stretches, and 1-2 bank holidays per year. There are NO on-call requirements for this position.

​Your rota is varied, allowing you to delve into all areas of hospital nursing ranging from ward, theatre and consults.

As a hospital RVN some of your duties will include:– Carry out acting weekend Charge Nurse duties, as directed.- Advise clients of post-operative discharge instructions, verbally and with print-outs and appropriate literature as directed. Welcome to Wanstead Hospital! We are looking for two well-rounded and experienced GP vets who thrive in a hospital environment and want to be part of the largest ECC provider in London.

Having prior experience in ECC and ultrasonography would be ideal for this position due to the high caseload.

About your new role!

​Wanstead are looking for TWO veterinary surgeons, one full-time and one 3-days per week who are wanting to grab the opportunity to step into our largest hospital in the group, based in East London.

If you were looking for an additional day, we would be happy to explore branch gaps within the region.

​The team are looking for competent GP vets who can jump straight in with routine surgeries, including bitch spays and dentals, and be able to confidently manage emergency cases. With a high imaging caseload this would be the perfect role for a GP vet with a passion for diagnostic imaging, to either utilise their existing skills, or develop on their area of interest.

As a GP hospital vet some of your duties will include:• Ensure a high and improving standard of evidence-based clinical care at the Hospital.• Participate in the clinical consulting, medical and surgical rota for Hospital GP vets.• Ensure compliance with RCVS Codes of Conduct, Practice Standards and relevant medicines regulation within the Hospital.• Ability to work independently while recognising limitations and seeking support when required• Carry out consultations, thoroughly examining all pets presented and making management and treatment recommendations which are based on best practice and are evidence-based and in accordance with GVG protocols.• Maintain, prescribe and dispense all medications in accordance with appropriate current medicines legislation and RCVS guidance.• Investigate cases fully and appropriately, using diagnostic aids such as radiography and blood testing.• Perform surgery on cases as appropriate and within boundaries of personal competence• Confident communicator with a client-centred approach.• Good clinical reasoning and time-management skills.• Foster a culture of excellent working relationships within the Hospital and be responsible for the achievement of high morale and a strong team spirit.

Your rota will be on a 6 weekly rotational basis made up of an average of 40 hours per week (30-hours for part-time) inclusive of your 1:3 Saturday and 1:6 Sunday weekend rotation. This will enable you to work within all departments of the hospital, ranging across consulting, surgery, ward and ECC. You will be rota ‘d to up to 2 bank holidays per year and be included in the last resort on-call rotation.

​Wanstead Veterinary Hospital provides an excellent first opinion, emergency, critical care, and referral service to our clients and local network of 20 branches and works to the highest clinical standards. No day or caseload is the same with such a wide pool of clients and internal referrals coming through the doors.

​There is state of the art diagnostic support, with a CT scanner, a commercial laboratory, a strong medical team, and experienced surgeons routinely conducting advanced orthopaedic, soft tissue, and minimally invasive surgery all available on site.

You will be working alongside a large collaborative team consisting of approximately 25 vets, 27 RVNs, 14 SVNs, 7 VCAs and a large front of house team who are integral in maintaining excellent client care.

​You are fully supported by an established management structure including senior GP and internal medic vets, senior RVN’s, 2 deputy head nurses, head nurse, head vet and hospital manager.

​Wanstead itself is on the outskirts of urban Essex but is close enough to rural life for that countryside relief. Transport links into London do not get better than a short walk to a Central Line tube station! It is a beautiful area of London with lots of green space including the local Bluebell Woods. It also has a plethora of independent restaurants, bakeries, pubs and coffee houses to keep you busy and refreshed in your time off!

Please be aware there is no on-site parking available and public transport is advised, but with stations and bus stops a stone’s throw away you have plenty of choice.

VA363 – Veterinary Care Support Apprentice

We are looking for integral pieces of our veterinary team puzzle, in the shape of veterinary care support apprentices’ to join our teams in a number of our sites across the group.

About the role

Our Level 2 Veterinary Care Support (VCS) Apprenticeship role is an ideal stepping stone for those who see themselves in the veterinary care environment, with this qualification providing the initial key skills. Furthermore, this is a stepping stone for those looking for that next training step working ever closer to becoming a registered veterinary nurse.

This application is for our June cohort, and the course is delivered by our own Training College. Available positions are dependent on upcoming vacancies and cohorts.

The VCS positions are full-time consisting of 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, including your weekly college day plus a regular weekend rotation. If in a hospital position, there will also be a fair share bank holiday requirement. Prior animal care is preferred yet not essential, but would be advantageous. If you can demonstrate a passion for learning, teamwork, and providing the highest standard of patient and client care you will flourish.

The role is varied, involving and high level of client care which includes reception duties, the cleaning and upkeep of the practice and its equipment/facilities, and of course the hands-on patient care. You may be required to work across different branches within commutable distance, including the hospital sites.

This is an intense industry and profession that not only has physical challenges, but also emotional, and our veterinary colleagues must be able to adapt to this high pressured and unpredictable environment.

You will be working alongside experienced and compassionate teams who understand the need for investing time and training into our future registered nurses.

About your new role!

This is a 2-day week first opinion GP role, on Thursdays and Fridays (Friday being an 8-hour day) and includes a 1:3 branch Saturday, and 1:8 Sundays working alongside the Mandeville Hospital team, plus 1-2 bank holidays per year.

​There are NO on-call requirements for this position.

​If you were looking for full-time opportunities, we would be happy to explore this for you working at another practice in the region for another 2 days, for example in nearby Acton.

As a branch veterinary surgeon, some of your duties will include:– Carry out consultations, thoroughly examining all pets presented and making management and treatment recommendations which are based on best practice and are evidence-based and in accordance with GVG protocols. – Perform GP surgery on cases as appropriate and within boundaries of personal competence and limitation of overnight care. – Maintain, prescribe and dispense all medications in accordance with appropriate current medicines legislation and RCVS guidance.  – Record accurate and thorough clinical notes and ensure that pets’ histories are accurate comprehensive and useful to colleagues. – Be prepared to refer cases in a timely manner, in the first instance to a GVG Hospital, when there is an inability to undertake a case for whatever reason. – Help to maintain a respectful and collaborative team environment
