We are looking for confident and experienced future colleagues who ideally already come from a veterinary nursing assistant background, that are now ready to start their journey as student veterinary nurses, with Goddard Vet Group at our very own Nursing College.

About the role

​We currently have 1 position for an April cohort at the below site:

Harrow – Monday to Friday plus 1:3 Saturdays between Harrow and Wembley

​The Level 3 student positions are full-time consisting of 40 hours per week with varying shifts and includes your weekly college day, plus a regular weekend rotation. Once qualified and if in a branch position you will be included in a 1:10 Sunday rotation in your nearest 24-hour hospital, in addition to the standard branch Saturday rotation. As experienced veterinary nursing assistants you will be used to day-to-day practice life and are now ready to take on additional student responsibilities and training.

​The role is varied, involving and high level of client care which includes reception duties, the cleaning and upkeep of the practice and its equipment/facilities, and of course the hands-on patient care.

​You will be working alongside experienced and compassionate teams who understand the need for investing time and training into our future registered nurses.

VA573 – Senior Registered Veterinary Nurse

One of our fabulous nurses will be starting their parenting adventure in the spring, creating an opportunity for an experienced hospital RVN with a keen interest in the theatre environment, to step into a 12-month maternity cover Senior Theatre Veterinary Nurse role.

About your new role!

This full-time (40 hours per week) senior RVN position would be IDEAL for a highly experienced RVN who thrives in the surgical setting, and wants to take the reins of our 4 theatres in the hospital, ensuring they are running efficiently and to the highest standard.

This role can be either 4 or 5 days per week and includes a 1:6 weekend rotation with TOIL and 2 bank holidays per year. You will be included in the last resort on-call rotation, every 1:10 weeks.

As senior theatre RVN some of your duties will include:– GA sheet audits- Pre-GA check list audits- GA and theatre training- Keeping set up folders up to date- Ensuring surgical kits are maintained and training of equipment- Organising the theatre day- GA troubleshooting- Ordering medical air- Maintaining stock for surgery- Providing ventilator and Ethylene oxide training- Theatre SOP’s- Providing endoscope training- Scope maintenance- Providing in house CPD- Attending and contributing to leadership meetings- Assist in covering Charge Nurse when neededWanstead not only has its own first opinion client base but also sees the internal referral cases from the surrounding branches in East, North and Central London, giving you a plethora of diverse surgical cases.

​There is fantastic diagnostic support at Wanstead, with a CT scanner, a commercial laboratory, a strong medical team, and experienced surgeons routinely conducting advanced orthopaedic, soft tissue, and minimally invasive surgery on site.

​You will be working alongside a large team consisting of approximately 25 vets, 27 RVNs, 14 SVNs, 7 VCAs and a large front of house team who are integral in maintaining excellent client care.

Wanstead has an extensive onsite management structure including 2 deputy head nurses, head nurse, head vet and hospital manager, so you will have ample support around you while settling into your new position.

Wanstead itself is on the outskirts of urban Essex but is close enough to rural life for that countryside relief. Transport links into London do not get better than a short walk to a Central Line tube station!

VA576 – Senior Registered Veterinary Nurse

Are you feeling ready for a new challenge…welcome to Acton! This unique GP practice is looking for an RVN who is wanting to step into a senior role and take the bull by the horns (so to speak!)

About your new role!This is a full-time 40-hourly week role including a 1:3 branch Saturday and 1:10 Sunday rotation at the nearby Mandeville Hospital in which you will receive time back for weekend days worked, plus 1-2 bank holidays per year at Mandeville Hospital.

There are no on-call requirements!

As a senior branch RVN some of your duties will include:

​- Responsible for the nursing team, ensuring the provision of a high quality and continually improving standards of nursing care.- Assist the veterinary surgeon in theatre and during consultations, as and when required.- Ensure the provision of a high quality and continually improving standard of nursing care, comfort and welfare of all pets in our care.- Utilise Schedule 3 skills, as directed.- Ensure all diagnostic, surgical and medical equipment and instruments are serviced as required, maintained well and in full working order.- Ensure that a weekly audit of Controlled Drugs is carried out in accordance with the prescribed protocol. – Responsible for staff working on reception, ensuring a high and improving standard of client care by means of excellent communication and service at all times.- Manage the daily operation of the reception area and ensure the friendly and efficient handling of clients and their pets, in person, by email and over the telephone.- Support student nurses as a clinical supervisor.

Ideally our new colleague will have prior leadership experience, but this is not essential and formal in-house leadership training will be provided. We are looking for a confident, experienced RVN who is ready to make the step up and really make this role their own working with and supporting a new team.

​Set in an old bank complete with its original vault (no gold bars unfortunately), Acton is well equipped with everything you would need day to day to complete a high standard of first opinion GP care. It has 2 consult rooms, and a separate colleague area for those much-needed lunch breaks.

​You will be working alongside a fantastic established support team and experienced vet who are incredibly engaged in their roles and are looking for leadership to propel the practice even further!

​You will also have the full support of an experienced regional manager who has worked in the group for years and takes their role in supporting their branches incredibly seriously with the upmost dedication.

​The nearby Mandeville Veterinary Hospital in Northolt provides out of hours support for Acton. It has state of the art 24 hr facilities including CT, an excellent ultrasound, scopes, laparoscopic equipment and an array of specialists.

The practice could not have a more ideal location, being literally opposite the Acton underground station on the Elizabeth “Lizzy” Tube Line, which takes you straight into Central and East London in one direction, and through to Heathrow airport in the other for those much-needed getaways!

VA567 – Veterinary Surgeon

To coin the British phrase “hodgepodge” meaning a jumble of things, we have a hodgepodge of a role that would suit a confident GP vet who likes to work between different environments, while still having a level of consistency in their rota.

About your new role!

Working between 2 very different practices (not on the same day) you will be providing consistency to our clients and teams week in week out.

​There can be flexibility to how your weekly rota can look, involving 3 or 4 days between New Addington, and Croydon. Both sites have their own nuance’s, and you will be fully supported in both with experienced support colleagues who have worked in their respective branches for years.

The rota includes a 1:4 branch Saturday rotation and 1:10 Sunday rotation in the Stone Lion Hospital plus 1-2 bank holidays per year. There are NO on-call requirements.

As a sole charge branch vet some of your duties will include:– Carry out consultations, thoroughly examining all pets presented and making management and treatment recommendations which are based on best practice and are evidence-based and in accordance with GVG protocols. – Perform surgery on cases as appropriate and within boundaries of personal competence and limitation of overnight care. – Maintain, prescribe and dispense all medications in accordance with appropriate current medicines legislation and RCVS guidance.  – Record accurate and thorough clinical notes and ensure that pets’ histories are accurate comprehensive and useful to colleagues. – Be prepared to refer cases in a timely manner, in the first instance to a GVG Hospital, when there is an inability to undertake a case for whatever reason. – Help to maintain a respectful and collaborative team environment – Work alongside your RVN to ensure branch meetings are scheduled and the clinics SOP’s are being actioned- Oversee the consulting and surgical/diagnostic diary in compliance with company policies.

​You will have full clinical support from Stone Lion Hospital in Wimbledon, for any complex referrals you may need to make, and OOH care for your patients.

​You also have the support from a dedicated regional manager, and regional head vet who has a wealth of knowledge to pass on and can support you in your clinical management needs.

This is a sole charge position, and you will be comfortable with routine GP consultations and surgery, but ample support is provided by management in the region.

​Being south of the river, you are ideally located near idyllic Kingston Upon Thames. New Addington is a stone’s throw 2-minute walk from the tram link, and Croydon an 8-minute walk from the tram, where you can pick up other lines to get across the city.
