VA579 – Orthopaedic Registered Veterinary Nurse

Welcome to Wanstead Veterinary Hospital! Our largest 24-hour GP hospital in the group is looking for an RVN who thrives and excels in the theatre environment, and is looking to step into an orthopaedic nurse role.

About your new role!

This full-time (40 hours per week) RVN position would be IDEAL for a RVN who thrives in theatre, particularly when assisting in orthopaedic surgeries.

Your rota will include an average of 1:4 weekends with TOIL and up to 3 bank holidays per year, plus a last resort on-call rotation. You will be rota ‘d to the same shifts as our orthopaedic surgeon, to aid an efficient and streamlined patient journey. When our surgeon is not operating, you will help support other areas of theatre.

This role would suit an RVN who has always felt the theatre was their comfort zone, and orthopaedics are an area of interest and expertise, although further training will of course be provided if there are any gaps!

There is fantastic diagnostic support at Wanstead, with a CT scanner, a commercial laboratory, a strong medical team, and experienced surgeons routinely conducting advanced orthopaedic, soft tissue, and minimally invasive surgery all on site.

You will be working alongside a large team consisting of approximately 24 vets, 27 RVNs, 14 SVNs, 7 VCAs and a large front of house team who are integral in maintaining excellent client care.

In terms of support, you will have a senior theatre RVN who you will work with to ensure theatre protocols are being maintained and continually advanced, as well as two deputy head nurses, head nurse and hospital manager who originally trained through us and has built up a wealth of knowledge and experience.

As Wanstead is our largest hospital in the group, this brings with it ample training opportunities, but also development and encouraging internal progression, as a large number of our nurses have worked up to senior, deputy and head positions over the years.

There may also be opportunity to explore a Theatre Lead role in the spring if you wished to dip your toe in a senior role, which would of course also come with an enhanced salary for additional leadership duties.

Wanstead itself is on the outskirts of suburban Essex but has quick and direct transport links that take you straight into all areas of London, with Snaresbrook and Wanstead stations being a short walk away on the Central Line.

Our RVN salary band is £32,000 to £35,000 depending on prior experience and allowing room for growth within the role.

VA578 – Senior Veterinary Surgeon

In this riverside London village nestled in Southwest London, home to the starting point of the annual Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race is our popular first opinion GP Putney clinic. The team are looking for a part-time senior vet to help in growing this popular Putney practice further.

About your new role!

Our Putney practice location has a true London ‘village’ atmosphere, just a short walk from the River Thames, Putney High Street, and Putney Station.

The rota for this position is Monday, Thursday and Friday with a crossover day on Mondays with your associate vet to help with Monday madness!

Your rota is inclusive of a 1:3 branch Saturday and 1:10 hospital Sunday rotation, plus 1 bank holiday per year. There are NO on-call requirements.

Our Putney team currently includes 1 associate vet (who has absolutely hit the ground running since starting!) and fantastic clinical support team who have a passion for building strong bonds with their established client base and providing exemplary patient care.

We are going through a new era in Putney and are also recruiting for a senior RVN so you will have a blank page of a practice to build up as a new team. As senior vet some of your duties will include (shared with your senior RVN):– Oversee prescription request administration to ensure that client requests are processed in a timely and accurate manner, that dispensed items are paid for, and that uncollected prescriptions are returned to stock in line with company policy.- Oversee the consulting and surgical/diagnostic diary in compliance with company policies.- Provide site-level induction to new starter colleagues and locums.- Ensure that regular branch meetings are scheduled, minutes taken and actions completed.- Carry out consultations, thoroughly examining all pets presented and making management and treatment recommendations which are based on best practice and are evidence-based and in accordance with GVG protocols. – Perform surgery on cases as appropriate and within boundaries of personal competence and limitation of overnight care. – Be prepared to refer cases in a timely manner, in the first instance to a GVG Hospital, when there is an inability to undertake a case for whatever reason. – Help to maintain a respectful and collaborative team environment – Record accurate and thorough clinical notes and ensure that pets’ histories are accurate comprehensive and useful to colleagues.

The clients at Putney are amazing, incredibly bonded to the team and are largely insured.

If you have a keen interest in diagnostic imaging, we have recently procured ultrasound facilities within the practice.

You will be fully supported by a dedicated regional manager, and our 24-hour Stone Lion hospital that is just a 15-minute drive away, where you can refer more complex cases, and who also provide our OOH services.

You will also have additional clinical support from our integral regional head vet Julie, who has a wealth of clinical and management knowledge to pass on.

Leadership training will be provided if this is your first official leadership position.

The salary band for this part-time senior role inclusive of weekend rotation is £53,120 to £70,550 (this is £64,000 to £85,000 FTE based on a 40 hour week) depending on prior experience, and development within the role.

VA573 – Senior Registered Veterinary Nurse

One of our fabulous nurses will be starting their parenting adventure in the spring, creating an opportunity for an experienced hospital RVN with a keen interest in the theatre environment, to step into a 12-month maternity cover Senior Theatre Veterinary Nurse role.

*We could consider a RVN who has not been in a senior position before, but has a passion for the theatre environment and wants to develop their skills further, and is keen to step into a theater lead role.*

About your new role!

This full-time (40 hours per week) senior RVN position would be IDEAL for an experienced RVN who thrives in the surgical setting, and wants to take the reins of our 4 theatres in the hospital, ensuring they are running efficiently and to the highest standard.

This role can be either 4 or 5 days per week and includes a 1:6 weekend rotation with TOIL and 2 bank holidays per year. You will be included in the last resort on-call rotation, every 1:10 weeks.

As senior theatre RVN some of your duties will include:– GA sheet audits- Pre-GA check list audits- GA and theatre training- Keeping set up folders up to date- Ensuring surgical kits are maintained and training of equipment- Organising the theatre day- GA troubleshooting- Ordering medical air- Maintaining stock for surgery- Providing ventilator and Ethylene oxide training- Theatre SOP’s- Providing endoscope training- Scope maintenance- Providing in house CPD- Attending and contributing to leadership meetings- Assist in covering Charge Nurse when neededWanstead not only has its own first opinion client base but also sees the internal referral cases from the surrounding branches in East, North and Central London, giving you a plethora of diverse surgical cases.

You will be working alongside a large team consisting of approximately 25 vets, 27 RVNs, 14 SVNs, 7 VCAs and a large front of house team who are integral in maintaining excellent client care.

Wanstead has an extensive onsite management structure including 2 deputy head nurses, head nurse, head vet and hospital manager, so you will have ample support around you while settling into your new position.

Wanstead itself is on the outskirts of urban Essex but is close enough to rural life for that countryside relief. Transport links into London do not get better than a short walk to a Central Line tube station!

Please be aware there is no on-site parking available and public transport is advised.

This could be a fantastic opportunity for an experienced RVN who knows their way around a theatre, and wants to gain leadership experience to then take-away and utilise for future senior positions.

VA576 – Senior Registered Veterinary Nurse

If you are ready for a new challenge our Acton practice awaits! This unique GP practice is looking for an RVN who is wanting to step into a senior role and take the bull by the horns (so to speak!)

About your new role!This is a full-time 40-hourly week role including a 1:3 branch Saturday and 1:10 Sunday rotation at the nearby Mandeville Hospital in which you will receive time back for weekend days worked, plus 1-2 bank holidays per year at Mandeville Hospital.

There are no on-call requirements!

As a senior branch RVN some of your duties will include:

- Responsible for the nursing team, ensuring the provision of a high quality and continually improving standards of nursing care.- Assist the veterinary surgeon in theatre and during consultations, as and when required.- Ensure the provision of a high quality and continually improving standard of nursing care, comfort and welfare of all pets in our care.- Utilise Schedule 3 skills, as directed.- Ensure all diagnostic, surgical and medical equipment and instruments are serviced as required, maintained well and in full working order.- Ensure that a weekly audit of Controlled Drugs is carried out in accordance with the prescribed protocol. – Responsible for staff working on reception, ensuring a high and improving standard of client care by means of excellent communication and service at all times.- Manage the daily operation of the reception area and ensure the friendly and efficient handling of clients and their pets, in person, by email and over the telephone.- Support student nurses as a clinical supervisor.

Ideally our new colleague will have prior leadership experience, but this is not essential and formal in-house leadership training will be provided. We are looking for a confident, experienced RVN who is ready to make the step up and really make this role their own working with and supporting a new team.

Set in an old bank complete with its original vault (no gold bars unfortunately), Acton is well equipped with everything you would need day to day to complete a high standard of first opinion GP care. It has 2 consult rooms, and a separate colleague area for those much-needed lunch breaks.

You will be working alongside a fantastic established support team and experienced vet who are incredibly engaged in their roles and are looking for leadership to propel the practice even further!

You will also have the full support of an experienced regional manager who has worked in the group for years and takes their role in supporting their branches incredibly seriously with the upmost dedication.

The nearby Mandeville Veterinary Hospital in Northolt provides out of hours support for Acton. It has state of the art 24 hr facilities including CT, an excellent ultrasound, scopes, laparoscopic equipment and an array of specialists.

The practice could not have a more ideal location, being literally opposite the Acton underground station on the Elizabeth “Lizzy” Tube Line, which takes you straight into Central and East London in one direction, and through to Heathrow airport in the other for those much-needed getaways!

VA569 – Veterinary Surgeon

Situated in the heart of Ickenham, a small village in Greater London, is an established practice that is looking for a vet who thrives in being part of the community and is the “go to” vet for their beloved pets, on a 3-day week basis.About your new role!This a sole charge position that has a perfectly manageable caseload for a GP first opinion vet to step into. You will be able to comfortably balance your morning consultations, perform routine surgeries during the day, catch up on admin and then round up with evening consults.You will be fully supported by an incredible support team including Dawn and Alison, who have been at the practice for over 20 years and are very proud of the reputation the practice has built.In addition, you will be supported by a dedicated regional manager, and regional head vet to help you with any areas of clinical support you may need.Your 33.45 hours per week includes a 1:3 branch Saturday and 1:8 hospital Sunday rotation, in addition to up to 2 bank holidays per year in Mandeville Hospital. There are NO on-call requirements.We would also be more than happy to look at a part-time or split rota across other local sites to mix things up!

This role could be ideal with a vet who may have a few years under their belt, and wants to re-establish themselves and settle in as the go-to suburban village vet.

As a sole charge branch vet some of your duties will include:
