We are looking for a well-rounded experienced GP vet who thrives in a hospital environment and wants to be part of the largest ECC provider in London.Having a keen interest in diagnostic imaging or a certificate would be beneficial.About your new role!Wanstead are looking for a veterinary surgeon who is wanting to grab the opportunity to step into this full-time GP role at Wanstead Hospital in East London.The team are looking for a competent GP vet who can jump straight in with routine surgeries, including bitch spays and dentals, and be able to confidently manage emergency cases. With a high imaging caseload this would be the perfect role for a GP vet with a passion for diagnostic imaging, to either utilise their existing skills, or develop on their area of interest.Wanstead Veterinary Hospital provides an excellent first opinion, emergency, critical care, and referral service to our clients and local network of 20 branches and works to the highest clinical standards.There is state of the art diagnostic support, with a CT scanner, a commercial laboratory, a strong medical team, and experienced surgeons routinely conducting advanced orthopaedic, soft tissue, and minimally invasive surgery all available on site.You will be working alongside a large team consisting of approximately 25 vets, 27 RVNs, 14 SVNs, 7 VCAs and a large front of house team who are integral in maintaining excellent client care.

​You are fully supported by an established management structure including senior RVN’s, 2 deputy head nurses, head nurse, head vet and hospital manager.

Your rota will be on a 6 weekly rotational basis made up of an average of 40 hours per week, inclusive of your 1:3 Saturday and 1:6 Sunday weekend rotation. This will enable you to work within all departments of the hospital, ranging across consulting, surgery, ward and ECC. You will be rota ‘d to up to 2 bank holidays per year and be included in the last resort on-call rotation.Wanstead itself is on the outskirts of urban Essex but is close enough to rural life for that countryside relief. Situated in the heart of Ickenham, a small village in Greater London, is an established practice that is looking for a vet who thrives in being part of the community and is the “go to” vet for their beloved pets.About your new role!This a sole charge position that has a perfectly manageable caseload for a GP first opinion vet to step into. You will be able to comfortably balance your morning consultations, perform routine surgeries during the day, catch up on admin and then round up with evening consults.You will be fully supported by an incredible support team including Dawn and Alison, who have been at the practice for over 20 years and are very proud of the reputation the practice has built.In addition, you will be supported by a dedicated regional manager, and regional head vet to help you with any areas of clinical support you may need.This is a 4-day week role with Wednesdays off and includes a 1:3 branch Saturday and 1:8 hospital Sunday rotation, in addition to up to 2 bank holidays per year in Mandeville Hospital. There are NO on-call requirements.We would also be more than happy to look at a part-time or split rota across other local sites to mix things up!

To coin the British phrase “hodgepodge” meaning a jumble of things, we have a hodgepodge of a role that would suit a confident GP vet who likes to work between different environments, while still having a level of consistency in their rota.

About your new role!

Working between 2 very different practices (not on the same day) you will be providing consistency to our clients and teams week in week out.

​There can be flexibility to how your weekly rota can look, involving 3 or 4 days between New Addington, and Croydon. Both sites have their own nuance’s, and you will be fully supported in both with experienced support colleagues who have worked in their respective branches for years.

The rota includes a branch Saturday rotation and 1:10 Sunday rotation in the Stone Lion Hospital plus 1 bank holiday per year. There are NO on-call requirements.

As a sole charge branch vet some of your duties will include:– Carry out consultations, thoroughly examining all pets presented and making management and treatment recommendations which are based on best practice and are evidence-based and in accordance with GVG protocols. – Perform surgery on cases as appropriate and within boundaries of personal competence and limitation of overnight care. – Maintain, prescribe and dispense all medications in accordance with appropriate current medicines legislation and RCVS guidance.  – Record accurate and thorough clinical notes and ensure that pets’ histories are accurate comprehensive and useful to colleagues. – Be prepared to refer cases in a timely manner, in the first instance to a GVG Hospital, when there is an inability to undertake a case for whatever reason. – Help to maintain a respectful and collaborative team environment – Work alongside your RVN to ensure branch meetings are scheduled and the clinics SOP’s are being actioned- Oversee the consulting and surgical/diagnostic diary in compliance with company policies.

​You will have full clinical support from Stone Lion Hospital in Wimbledon, for any complex referrals you may need to make, and OOH care for your patients.

​You also have the support from a dedicated regional manager, and regional head vet who has a wealth of knowledge to pass on and can support you in your clinical management needs.

This is a sole charge position, and you will be comfortable with routine GP consultations and surgery, but ample support is provided by management in the region.

​Being south of the river, you are ideally located near idyllic Kingston Upon Thames. New Addington is a stone’s throw 2-minute walk from the tram link, and Croydon an 8-minute walk from the tram, where you can pick up other lines to get across the city.

​Our sole charge salary band is £60,000 to £75,000 (FTE) depending on experience and allowing room for growth within the role, as we would welcome the opportunity to provide CPD for further clinical or management development.

About your new role!

​In the bustling heart of popular East London is this hugely popular first opinion practice that is looking for an additional vet, to work alongside their incredible senior vet.

The rota can offer flexibility with a 30–40-hour weekly option, which is inclusive of a 1:4 branch run Saturday and 1:8 hospital Sunday rotation. You will be rota ‘d to up to 2 bank holidays per year and be included in the last resort on-call and twilight rotation for the Wanstead Hospital.

Included in your initial induction period is also a hospital induction day to get to grips with hospital working before your first hospital shift.

​We are looking for a future colleague who enjoys working in a busier GP environment and is comfortable with routine surgery and dentals, although you will have ample support from your senior vet who loves to teach.

​You will be fully supported by a full-time senior vet, senior RVN, incredibly passionate trainee nurses and a regional manager whose support is invaluable to her region.

​West Ham is also fully supported by Wanstead Veterinary Hospital for more complex cases and OOH. It has extensive 24 -hr facilities including CT, an excellent ultrasound, scopes, laparoscopic equipment, and an array of specialists and provides a good environment to develop your ECC skills on your Sundays.

​The practice itself is smack bang in the middle between West Ham Park and Stratford, and a short 8-minute walk from the nearest train station (DLR) to take you all over London and into Essex.
