About your new role!

You will be fully supported by an established team including a fantastic senior Vet and senior RVN, and exceptional trainee nurses, plus a dedicated regional manager, and regional head vet.

Your role will involve supporting your senior RVN for day to day practice life, including being a mentor for our trainee nurses who are on their journey to becoming an RVN.

With an experienced team to hand this role could be ideal for a soon to be RVN, or someone with a few years under their belt looking for part-time hours, freeing up time for other ventures.

VA363 – Veterinary Care Support Apprentice

We are looking for integral pieces of our veterinary team puzzle, in the shape of veterinary care support apprentices’ to join our teams in a number of our sites.

About the role

Our veterinary care support (VCS) role is an ideal stepping stone for those who see themselves in the veterinary care environment, with this qualification providing the key skills. Furthermore, this is a stepping stone for those looking for that next training step working ever closer to becoming a registered veterinary nurse.

Available positions are dependant on upcoming vacancies and cohorts.

The VCS positions are full-time consisting of 40 hours per week, including your weekly college day plus a regular weekend rotation. If in a hospital position, there will also be a fair share bank holiday requirement. Prior animal care and client care experience is preferred but not essential, but would be advantageous. If you can demonstrate a passion for learning, teamwork, and providing the highest standard of patient and client care you will flourish.

The role is varied, involving and high level of client care which includes reception duties, the cleaning and upkeep of the practice and its equipment/facilities, and of course the hands-on patient care. You may be required to work across different branches within commutable distance, including the hospital sites.

The salary for the Level 2 Veterinary Care Support Apprentice position is £10 per hour for the first 12 months of employment, and will then increase to the current national minimal wage.

*To be considered for this apprenticeship role you do not require specific qualifications (although it would be advantageous having completed work experience or volunteering in the veterinary sector, to have an idea of the role/industry).*

If you wished to then progress onto our Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing and were successful in obtaining a Level 3 position within the group, you would require English and Maths GCSEs grade C/4 and above or equivalent. If you require Maths and English this can be worked on alongside your Level 2 apprenticeship.

VA435 – Veterinary Receptionist

We are looking for client-focused experienced receptionists to join our invaluable front of house team at Wanstead 24-hour Veterinary Hospital, on a full or part-time basis.

About your new role!

We want to ensure that while our clinical team support the patients’ needs, we are also able to offer a warm and friendly welcome to clients. This involves providing effective communications internally and organising our diary so that we can provide the best advice and accurate information to our clients.

The part-time 20 hourly week roles involve shift work in 4×5 hour blocks each week, with the full-time role consisting of 4×10 hour shifts. The earliest shift starting at 8am, and the latest shift up to 10.30pm plus a 2:4 weekend rotation with TOIL (reducing to 1:3 in the near future). You will be rota ‘d to 3 bank holidays per year (including one in the festive period). Due to the nature of the role, flexibility is required.

As well as a high level of face-to-face client care, there is also a large amount of phone and written communication to our clients, and these methods of communication must be treated as equally as professionally.

You will also be responsible for day-to-day administrative tasks such as managing the email inbox, paperwork filing, daily banking and liaising with insurance companies.

We are ideally seeking candidates with previous reception responsibilities within a veterinary or healthcare setting to join our team and can work early and late shifts. We do ask for a certain level of flexibly in the role, due to the nature of the profession.

You would need to be computer literate although training will be given, but more importantly we are looking for friendly, confident, empathetic individuals who will be proud to make the reception area, their areas of responsibility and for individuals with a passion for animal welfare and who love being a pivotal part of a large vibrant team.

The roles involve a high level of face-to-face contact with our clients, so you must have the confidence, empathy, and experience to provide the standard of care and the personal touch we expect for our clients and be able to work in a high-pressure environment.

Our float veterinary nursing assistant role is an ideal position for someone who has extensive prior experience within the veterinary industry and may not be in the position to commit to the Diploma training right now.

VA536 – Veterinary Surgeon

In one of London’s trendiest areas, home to famous King’s Road is our first opinion Fulham practice, and they are looking for a full-time vet to provide VIP treatment to the area’s posh pooches, charismatic cats and sassy small furries.

About your new role!

Our new team member will be confident in day-to-day GP sole charge practice life, working alongside a fantastic support team including an experienced RVN, and two student nurses.

Due to the relationship our Fulham practice has with its incredibly bonded client base, we are looking for a vet who thrives when providing five-star client care as well as providing the highest standard of patient care that we are continuously proud of. We are looking for a vet who is no stranger to rolling out the red carpet to their clients and their adored furry or feathered family members!

We have a full lab suite, two consulting rooms, a large prep and theatre area and a colleague rest area for those important lunch breaks. We have invested in the branch recently to provide even better facilities for the team.

Your rota will consist of a 4-day week with Fridays off, and will include a 1:4 branch Saturday, and 1:10 Hospital Sunday rotation in our Stone Lion Hospital in Wimbledon. You will be rota’ d to 1 bank holiday per year. There are NO on-call requirements.

You will be fully supported by our 24-hour Stone Lion Hospital in Wimbledon for any complex cases you may need to refer, or for any of your patients who require OOH care.

You will also have the support of our Regional Head Vet Julie, who’s clinical support for new colleagues is invaluable.

The practice location is ideal, within a 7-minute walk from Fulham Broadway station which is on the District Line, and takes you as far west as Ealing, through East London and over to Essex.

Accommodation may be available if required. 

As a sole charge branch vet, leadership training will also be provided, and you will work closely with your RVN to ensure the practice is running as smoothly as possible (though we know there are “those days”!)
