Conveniently located within Thamesmead Shopping Centre Retail Park with ample of free parking, you will find our Thamesmead branch where a friendly and experienced team are waiting to meet you and your pet. This well-established practice became part of the Goddard Veterinary Group in 2006 and is extremely popular within the local community.
The practice is fully-equipped to care for you and your pet with our excellent on-site facilities, allowing blood testing, x-rays and operations to be performed. Please see the additional services we offer below.
In the event of a veterinary emergency or if your pet is unwell out of hours, for your convenience and due to its location, a full out of hours emergency service is provided locally by another practice. Should your pet need to be seen by this emergency service please call us and the recorded message will give you all the details you require. You can rest assured that once we are open, our team will liaise directly with the emergency practice to ensure your pet receives the best possible care and in many circumstances we can arrange for your pet to be transferred back to us to continue treatment until they have made a full recovery.

Facilities & Services
We offer this alternative pain management therapy at a number of our practices. Acupuncture is always performed by one of our veterinary surgeons who has undertaken further training in this complementary therapy. Please speak to your vet to learn whether acupuncture might be helpful for your pet, and to find our nearest practice offering the service.
Our laboratory offers a rapid and efficient service with fast turnaround of results. Many branches have state-of-the-art in-house equipment for an even faster service. In addition to testing for the disease in an unwell patient, we also offer screening tests before your pet undergoes an anaesthetic to ensure that we identify any previously unknown problems, helping us to ensure the anaesthetic is as safe as possible.
A friendly welcome awaits you at our long-established kennels and cattery in Chingford, East London. We offer short and long-term boarding in a friendly and comfortable environment for your pets. Our Chingford veterinary practice is on-site to ensure that your pet’s medical needs will be well cared for.
We offer 15-minute appointments as a standard for all consultations, giving you plenty of time to discuss your pet’s healthcare and ask any questions you may have. We are able to provide a range of services during the consultation and are always on hand to see your pet in an emergency if necessary.
80% of dogs and cats over three years of age suffer some form of dental disease. Thankfully, the majority of dental problems are treatable and most are preventable. Speak to your local team for more information. Our practices are well equipped to perform routine dental procedures, and many of them benefit from dental X-rays to help diagnose and guide treatment.
We offer a referral service for diagnosis and treatment with CT scans, advanced x-rays and ultrasound. These imaging tests can be offered as an outpatient service, or as part of the treatment for patients hospitalised with us. We employ a number of specialists and certificate holders who are able to provide an expert opinion in interpreting these tests.
Free pet insurance
We are able to provide four weeks’ Petplan insurance free of charge. Whilst your pet settles in, you can have peace of mind that there’s a pot of money to help cover the cost of unexpected veterinary bills should they become unwell.
Healthcare Plan – ProActive Pets

Our affordable plan allows you to pay a monthly direct debit to spread the cost of your pet’s vaccinations and parasite control products throughout the year. We offer competitive pricing without any compromise on standards, employing the use of modern anaesthetics and monitoring equipment to ensure these procedures are very safe for your pet.
Our nursing team play a central role in the care that we provide you and your pet. In addition to assisting our veterinary surgeons in providing care for your pet, they are also able to answer questions for you directly and provide a range of nurse-led services such as puppy classes, weight management clinics and senior pet care consultations. We offer a pet passport service at all of our practices to enable you to travel to many countries around the world with your pet. There are a number of requirements that must be met before travel, so we recommend getting in touch with your local practice as early as possible if you might need your pet to travel abroad.
To assist your puppy with vital socialisation skills and gain behavioural advice, our nurses run puppy parties. This gives you the opportunity to meet other puppy owners sharing useful tips on training and ways to keep your puppy happy and healthy. Upon completion of the session, your puppy will receive their own certificate congratulating them upon their participation.

Nicola Bell BVSc BSc MRCVS (OV)
Nicki qualified from the University of Liverpool in 2003 and joined the team at Thamesmead in 2014. She has a particular interest in geriatric medicine and acupuncture which she has been using since 2008 for a variety of conditions in pets. In her spare time, Nicki enjoys walking with her Labrador Elsa and she also owns four cats, Rodney, Trigger, Dave and Sophie.
Amy Cowcher RVN
Registered Veterinary Nurse
Amy originally came to our Thamesmead surgery as a work experience student from school and we were delighted when she later joined the team on a permanent basis. Amy qualified as an RVN in 2014 and received the ‘Apprentice of the Year’ award at her veterinary nursing college. Amy runs weight clinics and puppy parties at Thamesmead and outside of work she enjoys Irish Dancing.
Student Veterinary Nurse
Camilla joined the practice in 2012 and initially worked at our surgery in Tottenham before joining the team at Thamesmead in 2013. Camilla is studying for her Registered Veterinary Nurse qualification at our Veterinary Nursing College in Wanstead. Outside of work Camilla is dedicated to her three cats, especially Nikki and Angel, whom she has had since they were kittens and are really part of the family.
Veterinary Nursing Assistant
Jessie joined the Thamesmead team in 2017 after studying Animal Conservation and Biodiversity. Jessie is very proficient at the martial art Taekwondo and in 2016 she achieved the National Champion status after double-winning a competition. As well as being dedicated to her two cats, she aims to continue progressing in Taekwondo and achieve more in higher-ranked competitions. Jessie is very much looking forward to beginning her VCA training in the near future.
Marion has many years of experience in the veterinary marketplace. She started her career qualifying as a Veterinary Nurse in a busy small animal practice and moved on to work in the veterinary pharmaceutical industry. This was followed by three years with a large pet food manufacturer, during which time she studied for and obtained her Certificate in Marketing. Marion worked for six years as a Regional Manager for the Goddard Group before deciding to work closer to home, however, she returned to the Group in 2014. Marion served as a council member for the VPMA for three years, has been a speaker at both the BVNA Congress and the London Vet Show and has also been co-editor and one of the authors of the BSAVA Manual of Small Animal Practice Management and Development – a daily reference book sold internationally, for veterinary surgeons and managers in practice. Marion loves spending time with her horses Frisbee and Winston and her JRT Nellie who she trains in dog agility. She also has two rescue cats, Henry and Gertie.
