We are able to offer pet owners of Barkingside, two Goddard Veterinary Group practices for their convenience. Our Fremantle branch is situated next to the Barkingside Methodist Church with our Cranbrook Road branch located within a parade of shops. Our knowledgeable and dedicated teamwork from both sites and therefore whichever branch you visit with your pet, you will be met with a friendly and familiar face.
Both practices are fully-equipped to care for you and your pet with our excellent on-site facilities, allowing blood testing, x-rays and operations to be performed. Please see the additional services we offer below.
In the event of a veterinary emergency or if your pet is unwell out of hours our Hospitals offer your pets a dedicated emergency service and the reassurance of knowing we are open 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.

Both branches are accredited by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS), following a diligent assessment the RCVS is satisfied that we maintain the highest standards of veterinary care.
Facilities & Services
Our laboratory offers a rapid and efficient service with fast turnaround of results. Many branches have state-of-the-art in-house equipment for an even faster service. In addition to testing for the disease in an unwell patient, we also offer screening tests before your pet undergoes an anaesthetic to ensure that we identify any previously unknown problems, helping us to ensure the anaesthetic is as safe as possible.
A friendly welcome awaits you at our long-established kennels and cattery in Chingford, East London. We offer short and long-term boarding in a friendly and comfortable environment for your pets. Our Chingford veterinary practice is on-site to ensure that your pet’s medical needs will be well cared for.
We offer 15-minute appointments as a standard for all consultations, giving you plenty of time to discuss your pet’s healthcare and ask any questions you may have. We are able to provide a range of services during the consultation and are always on hand to see your pet in an emergency if necessary.
80% of dogs and cats over three years of age suffer some form of dental disease. Thankfully, the majority of dental problems are treatable and most are preventable. Speak to your local team for more information. Our practices are well equipped to perform routine dental procedures, and many of them benefit from dental X-rays to help diagnose and guide treatment.
We offer a referral service for diagnosis and treatment with CT scans, advanced x-rays and ultrasound. These imaging tests can be offered as an outpatient service, or as part of the treatment for patients hospitalised with us. We employ a number of specialists and certificate holders who are able to provide an expert opinion in interpreting these tests.
Free pet insurance
We are able to provide four weeks’ Petplan insurance free of charge. Whilst your pet settles in, you can have peace of mind that there’s a pot of money to help cover the cost of unexpected veterinary bills should they become unwell.
Healthcare Plan – ProActive Pets
Budget monthly and save money on all your pet’s preventative healthcare needs. Our affordable plan allows you to pay a monthly direct debit to spread the cost of your pet’s vaccinations and parasite control products throughout the year. The costs are much less than our full retail price, and the plan offers a number of other benefits on top.
Professional canine hydrotherapy for healthy exercise and the treatment of a wide range of conditions and injuries. Our hydrotherapy centre is located on the site of our Chingford Kennels and cattery. All sessions are led by fully trained hydrotherapists who ensure that the sessions are safe and fun for your dog.
We actively promote the benefits of neutering your pet. Speak to a team member about the many health and behavioural advantages. We offer competitive pricing without any compromise on standards, employing the use of modern anaesthetics and monitoring equipment to ensure these procedures are very safe for your pet.
Our nursing team play a central role in the care that we provide you and your pet. In addition to assisting our veterinary surgeons in providing care for your pet, they are also able to answer questions for you directly and provide a range of nurse-led services such as puppy classes, weight management clinics and senior pet care consultations. We offer a pet passport service at all of our practices to enable you to travel to many countries around the world with your pet. There are a number of requirements that must be met before travel, so we recommend getting in touch with your local practice as early as possible if you might need your pet to travel abroad.
To assist your puppy with vital socialisation skills and gain behavioural advice, our nurses run puppy parties. This gives you the opportunity to meet other puppy owners sharing useful tips on training and ways to keep your puppy happy and healthy. Upon completion of the session, your puppy will receive their own certificate congratulating them upon their participation.

Simoné Weideman BVSc MRCVS
Simoné qualified from South Africa in 2007 and after working in small animal practice in Johannesburg made the move to the UK in January 2015. After a short stint at a practice in Yorkshire, Simoné joined the Barkingside practice in March 2016. In her spare time, Simone enjoys reading, travelling and attempting to master the art of archery. Simoné has two spoilt Cocker Spaniels, Dante and Josef, doted on back home in South Africa.
Maxine Jones RVN
Registered Veterinary Nurse
Prior to nursing Maxine was a volunteer worker at the Hopefield Animal Sanctuary but joined the Goddard Veterinary Group in February 2004 after when she qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse. With her long service, she is a well-known face to clients and pets alike. Maxine enjoys horse riding and gardening in her spare time. She enjoys the company of a dog, two cats, two iguanas and two tortoises.
Veterinary Nursing Assistant
Kira joined the team at Barkingside in 2017 having previously worked at the hospital in Wanstead. Outside of work Kira is a huge fan of the theatre – her current favourite being Hamilton – The Musical. At home Kira has four playful rescue cats – Sooty, Dotty, Hamilton and Heathcliff.
Charlie qualified as a nurse in 2001 and progressed into head nursing and practice management. She then made the leap into teaching and lectured to nurses for a college in East Anglia. After many years of lecturing, Charlie moved into the management field and set up a nursing academy as well as running a new graduate vet programme whilst managing a region of veterinary practices for a large corporate practice. Charlie now manages nine Goddard branches and when she isn’t out running she is at home with her pug and two Shih Tzus!
