Our beautiful Chalfont St Peter practice in Buckinghamshire has a sought-after opportunity for an RVN to join the team on a part-time basis.
About your new role!
Chalfont St Peter has a long-standing, trusted relationship with the local community, where many clients are insured. This enables the team to carry out a wide range of in-house diagnostic work-ups, including ultrasound. This first-opinion GP practice has three consult rooms, separate dog and cat wards, and is set in a peaceful, picturesque village. When the sun is out, you can enjoy your breaks in the large garden and decked area.
This role averages 26.13 hours per week, across three days, with a 1:3 branch Saturday and a 1:10 hospital Sunday rotation. You will also be rota’d for two bank holidays per year at the nearby Mandeville Hospital.
There are NO on-call requirements.
You will be fully supported by three vets, an excellent nursing and reception team, and an invaluable regional manager, all of whom have worked in or with the practice for many years.
As a branch RVN some of your duties will include:
- Ensure the provision of a high quality and continually improving standard of nursing care.
- Assist the veterinary surgeon in theatre and during consultations, as and when required.
- Maintain comprehensive patient hospitalisation records.
- Ensure a high standard of comfort and welfare for all pets in our care.
- Complete and maintain accurate records of hospitalised patients.
- Maintain a respectful and collaborative team environment.
- Ensure equipment is cleaned, packed, sterilised and stored correctly when not in use.
- Maintain adequate stocks of drugs, diets and consumables and place orders with our suppliers to required levels as necessary.
- Assist with the induction of new staff and their subsequent training.
- Provide reception duties, as required, ensuring a friendly and efficient handling of clients and their pets, in person, by email and over the telephone.
- Support student nurses as a clinical supervisor.
Mandeville Veterinary Hospital in Northolt provides out-of-hours support for Chalfont. The hospital offers state-of-the-art 24-hour facilities, including CT, ultrasound, scopes, laparoscopic equipment, and access to a range of specialists.

Our RVN salary band is £32,000 to £36,000 (FTE based on a 40-hour week and would be pro rata‘d down to your part-time hours) depending on experience and allowing room for growth within the role.
