In the picturesque suburb of Richmond-upon-Thames, with meadows adjoining the River Thames and Ham House, a beautiful 17th century home with it’s popular formal gardens on your doorstep,  within walking distance of Ham Common sits our very popular Ham practice, and they are looking for an RVN to join their team on a part-time basis.


About your new role!


Our new team member will be no stranger to fast paced GP branch life, building rapport with clients and their beloved animals. You will be working alongside an established team including our Vet Mark and our Receptionist Sue.


This role is part-time averaging 26.67 hours per week, covering Monday, Wednesday and Friday and includes a 1:4 branch Saturday and 1:10 Stone Lion Hospital Saturday or Sunday rotation.


Our Ham practice has supported the local community for more than 40 years and is fully-equipped to provide simple and thorough health check-ups, as well as the facilities to provide routine operations, providing invaluable care to our clients.


Facilities on site include digital x-ray and lab suite. For anything more advanced the practice is supported by Stone Lion 24-hour hour hospital, for internal referrals or OOH care and hospitalisation. Being a sole charge RVN you will be responsible for working closely with your team to ensure the smooth running of your Surgery.

As a branch RVN some of your duties will include:


- Ensure the provision of a high quality and continually improving standard of nursing care.
- Assist the veterinary surgeon in theatre and during consultations, as and when required.
- Maintain comprehensive patient hospitalisation records.
- Ensure a high standard of comfort and welfare for all pets in our care.
- Complete and maintain accurate records of hospitalised patients.
- Maintain a respectful and collaborative team environment.
- Ensure equipment is cleaned, packed, sterilised and stored correctly when not in use.
- Maintain adequate stocks of drugs, diets and consumables and place orders with our suppliers to required levels as necessary.
- Assist with the induction of new staff and their subsequent training.
- Provide reception duties, as required, ensuring a friendly and efficient handling of clients and their pets, in person, by email and over the telephone.
- Support student nurses as a clinical supervisor.


There is ample parking available across the road from the surgery and it is also close to several public transport links including Richmond Station for National Rail and the District line. There are also several bus stops within walking distance of the surgery. 


This role would be ideal for an RVN who thrives on building a long standing rapport with clients from all walks of life, and wants to settle into a role working alongside an established team, soaking up their experience!

The salary for this RVN position is £23,336 to £26,003 per annum pro rata (£35,000 to £39,000 full-time equivalent based on 40hours) depending on experience and allowing room for growth within the role.
