Welcome to Mandeville Hospital! Just down the road from Northolt underground station (so perfectly situated!) is our 24-hour hospital that supports all the surrounding Goddard clinics in Northwest London, and they are looking for a new Deputy Head Nurse to help lead this impressive team.
About your new role!
This role will suit an experienced RVN who is a natural leader with a cool head, thrives in a fast-paced hospital environment, and enjoys all areas of hospital nursing and prides themselves in providing the highest standard of patient care.
This is a full-time Monday to Friday position, including a 1:5 weekend rotation with TOIL and up to 2 bank holidays per year.
You will be included in the manager on-call rotation for weekends and bank holidays, you are NOT required to attend the hospital when called.

- Be responsible for the daily coordination and allocation of duties and breaks for the nursing team, ensuring the provision of a high quality and continually improving standards of nursing care.
- Be aware of the status of all hospitalised cases, the veterinary surgeon managing each case, new admits and pending patients for discharge.
- Oversee and direct nursing staff in the preparation for use of specific work areas such as prep, theatres, and imaging suites. At the conclusion of their use, all areas should be cleaned and closed in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Liaise with the Head Nurse to provide adequately trained staff to cover duties and so maintain the required high levels of service.
- Liaise with referring branches and coordinate both emergency and routine referrals to the hospital in accordance with the SOP.
- Support students and VCA’s as a clinical supervisor, and ensure training is being completed to a high standard by the rest of the RVN team
- Ensure all diagnostic, surgical and medical equipment and instruments are maintained well in full working order and to report faults to the Head Nurse and Hospital Manager.
As well as the large clinical team around you, and integral front of house team for client care support, you will be fully supported by your head nurse, head vet and hospital manager.
Mandeville Veterinary Hospital and its surrounding clinics provide an excellent first opinion, emergency, critical care, and referral service and work to the highest clinical standards. As a result, you will have the opportunity to nurse a wide range of patients and conditions.
There is state of the art diagnostic support at the hospital with a new CT scanner, a diploma holder in imaging providing our CT and ultrasound service, a strong medical team, and experienced surgeons routinely conducting advanced orthopaedic, soft tissue, and minimally invasive surgery during the day.
The location of Mandeville itself could not be more ideal for those relying on public transport, as Northolt station on the Central Line is a mere 6-minute walk away. If you are not already au fait with the area, the central line takes you all the way from West London, through to East London such as Liverpool Street, and at the end of the line are beautiful rural Essex towns such as Theydon Bois and Epping. If driving, there is free parking available, a rarity for London!
In a nutshell...if you have a passion for hospital nursing and leadership and want to develop these skills or utilise those you already have, and work among an amazing team and state-of-the-art facilities then get applying now!
Leadership training will be provided to expand your skills.
