About your new role!

Our new night colleague will be an RVN or student soon to qualify, that comes from a background in ECC and is confident in managing night cases and ward alongside your vet, providing exemplary care to your patients when admitted for their hospital sleepovers.

You will work alongside an experienced on-site veterinary surgeon for your night shifts and will have support from the clinical management team if you needed to contact during the day for any queries.

This role has a unique rotation of 3 nights on 7 nights off, 4 nights on 7 nights off averaging 30.33 hours per week. The nightly shift time is 7pm-8am.

As night RVN, some of your duties will include:

- Triage cases on arrival and quickly determine the associated level of urgency and react appropriately.
- Assist veterinary surgeons in theatre, with inpatient examinations and procedures and during consultations, as and when required.
- Maintain comprehensive patient hospitalisation records.
- Ensure a high standard of comfort and welfare for all pets in our care.
- Complete and maintain accurate records of hospitalised patients.

- Utilise Schedule 3 skills as directed.
- Answer client telephone calls as promptly as is possible and advise and inform clients on matters of pet welfare to a level of understanding commensurate with training and experience.  If there is any doubt about best outcome then clients should be advised to attend the hospital to see the vet.
- Admit clients to reception in a friendly and efficient manner bearing in mind the potentially high level of urgency involved.
- Inform owners of the progress of their hospitalised pets, as directed.

Stone Lion Veterinary Hospital offers a well-rounded caseload of routine procedures, emergency, and critical care, as it not only has its own first opinion client base, but also supports the surrounding Goddard practices for internal referral cases that require hospital expertise.
