Vet Surgeon – Putney, South West London

A rare opportunity has arisen due to the relocation of our current lead vet. Working four days per week (including one shorter shift and a fixed day off), in our RCVS accredited Putney branch in West London, you will be joining our network of Central London first opinion branches. Our practice has built up a strong local reputation and has many bonded clients that value the efficient and professional service they receive for their pets.

The practice boasts two large consulting rooms, both with natural light, a large prep and theatre area, and a colleague room for breaks and lunches. We have invested in several pieces of equipment this year to ensure we have the best equipment for procedures. We utilise our in-house lab equipment effectively as clients are keen to complete diagnostics in developing treatment plans.

We are supported by Stone Lion 24-hour Hospital, so have the advantage of referring our emergency cases within only a short travelling distance.

All of this is within a few metres of the River Thames, and the cafes, restaurants, and shops of Putney.

You will be a vet who can manage your time and prioritise your caseload well. Confidence in routine surgery and working up medical cases will be your passion. If you are keen to develop your skills either clinically or surgically, we will be keen to support you with CPD. Our ideal candidate will enjoy working as part of a team and have a proven ability to communicate effectively with clients, putting their pets at the centre of every decision. We are looking for someone who can fit into our practice culture, where we believe life is better with pets.

The role is 4 days per week in branch with a 1 in 4 Saturday rota. There is no night work or on-call. To provide a mix between branch and hospital work, with a great way to experience ECC work, we would also like you to join the Sunday rota (1:10) at our RCVS accredited tier 3 hospital in Wimbledon.

In return, we can offer a salary of £45,000 – £60,000 (pro-rata for part-time roles) depending on experience. The Goddard Veterinary Group offers a minimum of £2000 CPD allowance and sees CPD as an investment in the individual as well as for the practice and is keen to support study for certificate qualifications. We have an excellent benefits package including increasing holiday allowance (up to 6 weeks), BUPA private health insurance as well as cashback/refunds on many routine medical costs such as dental care, physiotherapy, optician, chiropody fees, etc. plus a 24/7 employee assistance programme, generous shopping, and leisure discounts and a cycle to work scheme.
