THE GODDARD VETERINARY GROUP LABORATORY
The Goddard Veterinary Laboratory has been established since 1985 servicing our own branches and more than a hundred other practices in the UK and overseas.
~~ James Cummings ~~ Debbie Best (AIMLS) ~~ Grace Masella ~~ Paula Dimant (Bsc) ~~
The Goddard Veterinary Group is proud of its superbly equipped laboratory. Its team is headed by James Cummings together with Debbie Best and Paula Dimant who are both biomedical scientists with many years experience in their specific specialities. Grace Masella provides an important supporting role. With the benefit of modern equipment installed in the laboratory, they are able to offer a rapid and efficient service with the same day results guaranteed.
Haematology is conducted on a Bayer Advia 120 analyser whilst the biochemistry is processed on an ILAB 600. An ACL 200 analyser is used for routine coagulation tests and the popular feline T4 test is conducted on a DPC Immulite.
In-house Quality Control testing is performed with each batch of samples and the laboratory participates in the National External Quality Assurance Scheme. Our qualified biomedical scientists examine a blood film for every haematology sample tested.
The laboratory operates a six-day service (including Saturday) and fax or phone results to you the same day that the samples are received. Some practices send their samples to us by special delivery - this costs a couple of pounds more but does guarantee next day delivery.
Routine haematology and clinical chemistry are carried out along with Feline T4 analysis, pre anaesthetic and coagulation screening, urine analysis and virus detection. Samples will also be referred if the requested test is not carried out in our laboratory. Our full chemistry profile includes electrolytes and bile acid which is essential for detecting chronic liver problems, e.g. fibrosis, copper storage disease and porto-systemic shunts.
Blood tubes are provided free of charge and should you possess a centrifuge, we recommend separating the serum samples before sending. This eliminates the likelihood of haemolysis occurring in transit and will enable you to re-sample at source if the serum is haemolysed or lipaemic. Prepaid envelopes and request pads are also provided free of charge.
We try to make sample submission and communication as simple as possible for your staff. On receipt of your first sample(s) we shall issue you with a unique practice number which you should quote on all correspondence and request forms; this facilitates speedy turn around of samples.
Envelopes are recycled in our efforts towards conservation.
As an introductory offer please send a sample to us free of charge and monitor for yourself the efficiency of the laboratory.
